A marathon epitomizes our power to outreach our limits and our strength to endure any difficulty that comes our way. It is this very idea which the Athanassios Ktorides Foundation represents through the organization of the annual Quantum Nicosia Marathon.

This idea was honoured in two ways by Nasos Ktorides, the president of the Foundation, on the 18th of April at the Boston Marathon.

Ktorides participated in the Marathon and finished the race after approximately four hours of exhaustive running, adding a Cypriot impulse to the Marathon of the American Metropolis as well as the international Marathon Movement.

At the second mile of the historic race, Nasos Ktorides made a detour in order to pay tribute to the memorial of our fellow-countryman Stelios Kyriakides who, with his victory 65 years ago, drew the Word’s attention to Greece and its hardship, attracting significant help.

«An olive wreath and some flowers may seem quite modest, yet they express our immense gratitude towards Stelios Kyriakides, even 65 years after his tour de force» said Nasos Ktorides.

Meanwhile, the preparations for the 2nd Quantum Nicosia Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, 9th of October 2011, are underway.
