Time measurement devices
electronic time measurement for all the races of the tournament
(excluding the 5km and the 1000m UNICEF Charity Run) as well as the
issuance of the results, has been assigned to an official time keeping
company. For this reason, all participants in the Marathon, Half
Marathon and 10km Road Race should wear their timing chips which will be
provided with their personal participation number from the Registration
Electronic control and time measurement mats, which will record the
intermediary times, will be placed at the following places:
For the Marathon Race: at the Start and the Finish line. Athletes will
have their intermediate times recorded upon passing from the 5km, 10km,
20km, 21.100km, 25km, 30km, and 41km of the course.
For the Half Marathon Race: at the Start and the Finish line. Athletes
will have their intermediate times recorded upon passing from the 5km,
10km, and 20km of the course.
For the 10km Road Race: at the Start and the Finish line. Athletes will
have their intermediate times recorded upon passing from the 5km and the
8.8km of the course.
At the Start - Finish line as well as every 5km, electronic control and
timing zones will be placed, for recording intermediate times. Runners
that do not have an electronic time indication at the start, the finish
as well as the intermediary control zones, will be cancelled.
The official race time will be shown and announced only for the athletes
who will complete their race within the time limit indicated for each
The timing chip together with the personal BIB number of the runner
indicate to the electronic system the identity of the athlete. Just the
personal BIB number by itself or just the timing chip by itself cannot
register a result, the runner is therefore cancelled. It is obligatory
to return the timing chips to the organisers immediately after the
finish of the race. In case of abandonment or non-participation, the
runner is obliged to arrange for the timely return of the chip.
Attention! The official race time will be announced only for the runners
who complete their run within the time limit indicated for each event.
A vehicle carrying a large digital chronometer on its roof will be
moving in front of the front runner of the race. Additionally, a digital
chronometer will be positioned at the finish line.
YOUR EFFORT WILL NOT BE MEASURED WITHOUT A TIMING CHIP.
It is imperative for you to know that the TIMING CHIP
issued to you is the property of the Organising
Authority, you are therefore obliged to return it to the
responsible personnel at the delivery site, before you
leave from the race finish area.
We emphasise that participants who neglect to return
their issued TIMING CHIP to the Organising Authority,
will be charged a €90 chip replacement fee. We therefore
ask all participants to assist the Organising
Committee’s effort and return the TIMING CHIP by
