Avraamis and Pericleous were the big winners of the «Quantum Nicosia Marathon 2021»

Nicosia, 12 December, 2021 – Avraam Avraamis and Stavri Pericleous were the big winners of the «Quantum Nicosia Marathon 2021», recording the best time among the men and women, respectively, in the Half Marathon race that took place on Sunday in the heart of Nicosia.

The organiser and sponsor of the event with the start and finish at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre was the Athanasios Ktorides Foundation, with all proceeds going to charitable causes.

Avraamis won the race in 1 hour 16 minutes and 44.28 seconds, some 25 seconds faster than Nuno Soares and 40 ahead of Tasos Tseronis.

Pericleous had the 18th overall best time and first among the ladies with a time of 1:28:28.73, followed by Zozan Timurturkan (1:30:26.77) and Tamara Schmidt (1:38:14.13).

Winner of the symbolic “Stelios Kyriakides 7.7 mile race” was Giorgos Harakis with a time of 43 minutes 03.06 seconds, followed by Fytos Lemonaris (44:34.85) and Andreas Doulappas (45:36.17).

First among the ladies and sixth overall was Eleni Ioannou (50:17.92), followed by Louisa Tsianaka (52:25.42) and Clementine Archinard (58:08.28).

This race represents the «77» jersey worn by legendary Cypriot runner Stelios Kyriakides who won the Boston Marathon in 1946.

The prizes for the “Stelios Kyriakides 7.7 race” were presented by Defence Minister Charalambos Petrides, who later took part in the 5K race.

The prizes for the Half Marathon were presented by veteran runner and Chairman of the Nicosia Municipality Sports Committee Valerios Danielides.

The 5K race was won by Yiorgos Ttofi (16:12.10), followed by Andreas Misaras (16:23.85) and Yahya Muhamud (16:58.65), while the third best time of the race was clocked by Thalia Charalambous (16:26.93), with Natalia Evangelou second best ladies and fifth overall best time (17:46.67) and Hala Em Murr third (20:11.78).

The first three in the sMile Run (1,610 metres) were Demos Demosthenous, Constantinos Tsalavos and Orestis Logides, followed by Nicol Mrukwa, Nefeli Theophilou and Eleana Maria Olympios.

All the proceeds of the «Quantum Nicosia Marathon 2021» will go to the ‘Small Heroes’ charity organisation, the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Heart Disease, Association of People with Autism, and the Nicosia Municipal Multi-Purpose Community Centre.
